Lucille Althoff 1912 -- 2009

Lucille Althoff, 96, of Kenosha, died on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at her residence. Born on Dec. 12, 1912, in Escanaba, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Justin and Flora (Gunville) Beaumier. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School in Escanaba and came to Kenosha shortly thereafter.

On Aug. 18, 1934, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, she married John Althoff.

He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2001.

"Lu" was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. She was also a member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was a member of their Altar Society, and their Home and School Association; and the St. Joseph High School's Home and School Association. She was a member of the St. Catherine's Hospital Ladies Auxiliary where she worked the gift cart weekly, and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

She had a very deep faith in God, literally praying off and on all day long. This was a huge part of who Lucille was and it enabled her to have a very positive attitude. She was God's sunshine in so many lives. "Lu" will be remembered for always being warm, caring, kind, fun loving and for her feisty personality.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Carney of Kenosha and Carol (Douglas) Kester of Salem; her five grandchildren whom she adored, Jeffrey (Margaret), Mark (Sandra) and Scott (Ann) Carney, Timothy Kester, and Kristy (Kevin) Luce; her eight special great-grandchildren; and her three sisters, Dorothy Sundstrom, Jeanette Miholic and Mary Jane (John) Wogan.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sonin-law, Kevin Carney; two brothers, Lawrence and Bob Beaumier; and three sisters, Olive Lessard, Margaret Pabst and Helen Marcoux.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 2020 91st Street. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation will be hosted on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158.

"Lu's" family would like to extend their heartfelt love and thanks to the entire staff of Canterbury Home on 36th Avenue for the kindness and love they shared with "Lu " and her family. They will never be forgotten.
