The funeral Mass for Elizabeth T. Meyer, 85, will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday, June 8, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Elgin. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary service recited at 7 p.m. today, at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin, and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at the church.
Born May 4, 1924, in Mallow County Cork, Ireland, the daughter of Patrick and Kathleen (nee Callahan) McCabe, she passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Vines of Countryside Care Center in Elgin. She was a resident of Elgin for many years, having worked as a seamstress at Chuck Hines, as a cook at the Community Crisis Center, and also was a beautician at the Blue Bird Beauty Salon in the Elgin Tower building.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Meyer, to whom she was married in 1952; children, Judy (Steven Scott) Robnett of Elgin, Ralph Jr. (Vanessa) Meyer of Shorewood and Roy Meyer of St. Joseph, Ill.; grandchildren, Mary and Katherine Robnett, Teresa and Ralph III Meyer, Amber Winn (fiance, Dejan Beogradlija), and Brittany, Joel and Dean Meyer; and several nieces and nephews in England. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
