ELBERT-RITLAND WEDDING
Miss Josephine Elbert and Carl Ritland were united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Buntlng last Thursday evening at 8:30, Rev. Owen Ritland of Ladyside, Wisconsin, a brother of the groom, assisted by Rev. Wm. P. Webb of this city, performed the ceremony.
The home was tastily decorated for the occasion, and about thirty relatives and friends of the bride and groom were present. The bride is an accomplished and talented young lady. She has lived in Rock Valley and vicinity all practically her life, and her kind and winning way has won her many friends. She is a graduate of the local high school and also of the Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. For the past two years she has been employed in the primary department of the Spencer public schools and has been very successful in this work. The groom is an exemplary young man. For the past three or four years he has been employed on the H.M. Corwin farm and during that time he has not only won the highest respect and confidence of his employer but had cultivated the friendship of all with whom he came in contact.
The bridal party left Thursday evening for Wisconsin, the groom's old home, where they planned to spend a month or more, after which they will return to Rock Valley, and occupy one of the houses on Corwin farm where the groom will continue in his present position. Mr. and Mrs. Ritland have the best wishes of many friends for their future happiness and success.

Josephine Ritland
Josephine Ritland went to be with the Lord Jesus Thursday, April 30, 1992.
Josephine was born Dec. 5, 1893, at Rock Valley, Iowa. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in 1914 and taught school a number of years. She married Carl J. Ritland June 14, 1917. For many years they farmed north of Chippewa Falls. In 1945 they moved to Eau Claire and since 1947 resided at 1418 Highland Ave. She was active in 4-H work for many years, the Wisconsin State Fair at Chippewa Falls and numerous farm related activities in the Chippewa Falls-Eau Claire area. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. In January of 1990 Josephine moved to Oakwood Villa in Altoona.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Helen Jean Talbott, Lori Ann Humphrey, John Takle and Carl Takle; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a son-in-law, Knute Takle of Portland. Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; two daughters. Erma Helen Takle and Carol Joy Ritland.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel and an hour before services Monday.
