ELBERT-RITLAND WEDDING
Miss Josephine Elbert and Carl Ritland were united in marriage at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Buntlng last Thursday evening at 8:30, Rev. Owen Ritland of Ladyside, Wisconsin, a brother of the groom, assisted by Rev. Wm. P. Webb of this city, performed the ceremony.
The home was tastily decorated for the occasion, and about thirty relatives and friends of the bride and groom were present. The bride is an accomplished and talented young lady. She has lived in Rock Valley and vicinity all practically her life, and her kind and winning way has won her many friends. She is a graduate of the local high school and also of the Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls. For the past two years she has been employed in the primary department of the Spencer public schools and has been very successful in this work. The groom is an exemplary young man. For the past three or four years he has been employed on the H.M. Corwin farm and during that time he has not only won the highest respect and confidence of his employer but had cultivated the friendship of all with whom he came in contact.
The bridal party left Thursday evening for Wisconsin, the groom's old home, where they planned to spend a month or more, after which they will return to Rock Valley, and occupy one of the houses on Corwin farm where the groom will continue in his present position. Mr. and Mrs. Ritland have the best wishes of many friends for their future happiness and success.

Carl Ritland
Carl J. Ritland, 93, 1418 Highland Ave., died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.
He was born in Elroy and married Josephine Elbert in 1920 at Rock Valley, Iowa. He farmed in the Eagle Point area for many years. He served as secretary of the Wisconsin Master Farmers Association for 28 years, was secretary of the Wisconsin Wool Growers Association and for 20 years was secretary of the Eagle Point Joint School District board.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carol Ritland, Eau Claire, Erma Takle, Plaino, Tex.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour before services Friday at the church. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
