Dorothy "Dee" Shulenberger, 83, formerly of Rock Valley, Iowa, died June 7, 2008, in Mission Viejo, California. Memorial Graveside was Saturday, August 24, at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to United Cerebral Palsy of Orange County, UCP of Orange County, 230 Commerce. Suite 190, Irvine, CA 92602-1336.

Dorothy Darlene Elbert was born November 10, 1924, in Rock Valley, Iowa, to Louis and Gladys (Heisig) Elbert, one of three children. She graduated with honors from Rock Valley High School in 1942. She began nurses training at St. Mary's in Sioux City, Iowa. graduating in 1945. She met and married Bob Shulenberger in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1947 , and they had two children. After the family moved to California in 1956. Dee worked in the private practice nursing and ended her career working in the accounting group at Interstate Electronics retiring in 1990. She loved animals, was an avid card player and a perpetual student.

Dee is survived by her children: Robert Jay Shulenberger of Costa Mesa, California, and Kelly (Frank) Barbera of Yorba Linda, California; granddaughter, Andrea Karina Shulenberger of Laguna Hills, California; sister, Jean Kemp of Overland Park, Kansas; brother, Fred (Delores) Elbert of Hills, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
