Donald W. Meyer, 66, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 4, 1998.
A lifetime resident, he was born in Burlington on January 13, 1932, to Edward J. and Ida A. (nee: Frey) Meyer. On June 11, 1955, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, he was united in marriage to Shirley E. Richter.
Mr. Meyer attended St. Mary's Grade School and High School, graduating in 1950. He served in the United States Marine Corps, Korean Conflict. He was a Service Technician at Brennan and Otto Heating in Burlington, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington and was very active in many organizations and activities of the church.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley E. Meyer of Burlington; one daughter, Marlene (Jim) Jerg of Madison; two sons, Michael (Nancy) Meyer of Waterford and Mark (Renee) Meyer of Paddock Lake; seven grandchildren, Justin, Leah, Christa, and Nathan Meyer, Aaron and Gavin Jerg, and Jacob Meyer; his father, Edward J. Meyer of Lake Geneva; and three brothers-in-law, Herb Lois, John (Ruth) Wiemer, and Ray (Marion) Richter, all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Meyer; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Lois and Lorena Wiemer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington on Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at 8 p.m. with Rev. Thomas Fait, Rev. David Reith, and Rev. Michael Petersen concelebrating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Burlington on Thursday. Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday from 3:30 until 7:30 p.m. Memorials suggested to Catholic Central High School.
