Dies at Home of Daughter
in Kenosha.
One of the oldest settlers of Kenosha county was claimed by death Friday afternoon when Mr. Alphons Richter, 76, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Schlax, 6410 Fifth avenue. He been ill for several months from complications and infirmities due to advanced age. The deceased was one of the most widely known residents of the county and the announcement of his passing is received with deep regret by his friends and relatives.
Mr. Richter was born in the town of Wheatland, May 18, 1851, and he lived all his life in Kenosha county. He was a leader in the business and civic affairs of Wheatland and was one of the most beloved citizens there.
Mr. Richter was a member of the St. Alphons church at New Munster where he was active in all affairs of the congregation.
The deceased is survived by one son and two daughters, Bernard of Wheatland township, Mrs. Peter Schlax of Kenosha, and Mrs. Rose Boop of Elgin, Ill. Five grandchildren also survive.
The body was removed early this afternoon from the Crossin Funeral home to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Schlax, 6410 Fifth avenue, where it will remain until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon when it will be removed to the home in Wheatland.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Alphons church at New Munster with burial in the church cemetery.
