Mrs. Catherine D. Schlax, 84, 6410 5th Ave., died early this morning at the Kenosha Hospital following a long illness.
She was born in Wheatland on May 28, 1878, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Richter.
On May 28, 1901, in St. Alphonse Catholic church, New Munster, she married Peter M. Schlax who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1948.
She was a member of St. James Catholic church, the Christian Mothers and the St. Anne Altar society, and a charter member of St. Catherine's Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's club and of the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors are two sons, Leslie and Francis, both of Kenosha; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Peterson, Minneapolis; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Arthur, in 1910, and by two sisters, and two brothers.
SCHLAX-Funeral services for the late Mrs. Catherine Schlax of 6410 5th Ave., will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Bruch Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. from St. James Church. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bruch Funeral Home after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Parish, Alter Society, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers will have rosary services at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
