Dale N. Richter, 80, of Wheatland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at his home.
Born in Burlington on March 29, 1934, he was the son of Bert and Lucille (nee Daniels) Richter. He spent his early life in Wheatland where he attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and St. Mary's High School.
On June 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis R. Schwanz. Following marriage they made their home in Wheatland Township where they raised their family. Phyllis preceded Dale in death on June 1, 2012.
Dale lived his entire life in the Burlington/Wheatland area and worked as the head custodian for Westosha Central High School until his retirement in 1999. He was a lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. For over 50 years he enjoyed his time spent with his family and friends Up North at Lake Namakagon where a lot of special memories were made. He enjoyed working outdoors and took great pride in his garden and lawn care.
He is survived by his children, Regina (Charles) Poepping, Julie (Kenneth) Poepping, Randy (Janice) Richter; grandchildren, Mike (Summer) Poepping, Sara Poepping, Joshua (Sally) Poepping, David (Kate) Poepping, Jodi (Scott) Holler, Steven Poepping, Aaron Richter and Alex Richter; great grandchildren, Kamryn, Owen, Macyn, Conor, Whitney, Maggie, Molli, Joseph, Matthew and Daniel. He is further survived by his sisters, Marge Kerr, Doris (Keith) Esmond, Joanne Ross, Patricia (LeRoy) Vos, Rose (Dave) Pfanzelter; brother-in-law, Robert Aldrich; sister-in-law, Loraine Schwanz; lifelong friend, Pat Yuknis along with many other relatives and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; daughter, Jacqueline; in-laws, Herb and Ida Schwanz; sister, Darlene Aldrich; brother-in-law, Joe Kerr; brother-in-law, Eldred Schwanz; sister-in-law, Gwen Ruppert and good friend, Joe Yuknis along with many other family and friends.
The family has suggested memorials to Western Kenosha County Special Olympics or St. Alphonsus Church.
Mass of Christian Burial for Dale will be Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Terry Langley officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be Monday, Jan. 5, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
