James A. Schlax, 56, 7825 20th Ave., died Wednesday morning (March 7, 1990) at Kenosha Hospital and Medical Center.
The son of Leslie and Rosalie (Spakowicz) Schlax, he was born April 29, 1933 in Kenosha.
He attended local schools and graduated from St. Catherine's High School, Racine, and from Marquette University with a degree in business administration.
On Feb. 8, 1969, he married Virginia Sobkowiak in Wausau.
He was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving from March 5, 1956, to Sept. 4, 1956.
He was president of the Schlax Insurance Agency.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Kiwanis Breakfast Club, the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, past director of the Wisconsin Association of Insurance Agents, past president of the Kenosha Independent Insurance Agents, past president of the Wisconsin Foundation for Insurance Education Inc., a member of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, the Agency Management Committee and the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, and his mother, Rosalie, of Kenosha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The Bruch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
SCHLAX—Funeral services for the late James A. Schlax of 7825 20th Ave., who passed away on March 7th, will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 10:00 A.M. from the Bruch Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. from St. Mary Catholic Church. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Bruch Funeral Home after 5:30 P.M. on Friday. Prayer service will be at 6:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
