Lois Jean Knoespel, age 89, of Brillion, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at West Haven Assisted Living.
Lois was born on October 29, 1925 in Marshfield, WI, daughter of the late Roy Pearson and Myrtle (Krause) Pearson Finlayson. She was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1943. She attended Business School in Ohio, where her mother and step-father lived. On June 5, 1948, she married Roy Knoespel at Friedens Church in Brillion. He preceded her in death in 2012. She briefly worked at Rudy's Restaurant before starting as a secretary at The Brillion Iron Works. The family moved to different cities for Roy's career, but they always kept their connection with Brillion. In River Falls, Lois was the office manager at the Medical Clinic. In Madison, she was the key punch operator at Oscar Mayer's before becoming the secretary at the elementary school in Waunakee. While living in Manchester, IA, Lois was the secretary at Delaware County Memorial Hospital. In 1986, the family returned to Brillion. She then worked as the secretary at Brillion High School, she volunteered at the Middle School, and helped at Mom's Place in the kitchen. She ended her career at Deer Run Golf Course in Brillion. Lois was an avid bowler and was very proud of her 690 series. She loved card games of all kinds, and even passed on that love down to all of her grandchildren. She was a member at Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion and was very active at church. She served on many committees. Lois loved cooking and baking, and she was always very generous in sharing what she made.
Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Pamela (John) Lindner of Rubicon, WI, Tim (Ann) Knoespel of Brillion, and Scott (Gina) Knoespel of North Branch, MN; grandchildren: Jason Knoespel, Abby (Matt) Lewek, Dylan Knoespel, Jacob Knoespel, and Jade Knoespel; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Anika, and Aiden Lewek; two sisters-in-law: Doris Knoespel and Esther Knoespel; step-brother-in-law: Bob Andrascik; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and beloved step-father: Myrtle and Lawrence Finlayson, her husband Roy, two step-brothers: Lawrence (Estelle) Finlayson and James (Bea Finlayson-Androscik) Finlayson, one step-sister: Lois (Dan) Parobeck, several in-laws, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church, 204 Horn Street in Brillion. Officiating will be the Rev. Dale Eggert. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church.
