Ione L Shaffar, age 91, a Manitowoc resident, died Friday, January 28, 2000, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2000, at Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Rev. Roy C. Myers, will officiate with burial of her cremated remains in Knollwood Memorial Gardens, town of Kossuth.
Ione was born October 9, 1908, at Brillion, daughter of the late Fred and Flora Lillwitz Richter. She grew up and was educated in Brillion, and graduated from Brillion High School with the class of 1924. She then graduated from Manitowoc County Normal and taught school at New Holstein and Lincoln Grade School, in the town of Newton. She was married to Glenn Shaffar, June 23, 1941, at Manitowoc. Glenn preceded her in death September 6, 1986. They celebrated 45 years of marriage together. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a niece, Katy Wolff, and family of Appleton; a great niece, Diane and Melvin Paquette, and their son, Scott, Manitowoc; a niece, Delores Gerard and her husband, John, Manitowoc; and many friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law. Myrtice and Ray Boehm; and a brother and sister-in-law, Russel and Alice Richter; two nephews, Dean R. Richter, and Bill Wolff.
The family of Ione would like to thank the people who cared for her at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, for being there as part of their family.
