Clyburn L. "Barney" Richter, age 70, of Briggsville, died on Monday morning, Jan. 14, 1991 at Veteran's Hospital in Madison. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at the Pflanz Funeral Home in Portage. Burial will follow in Briggsville Protestant Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Briggsville area veterans. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 16 from 5-8 p.m. at the Pflanz Funeral Home in Portage.
Barney Richter was born on Jan. 20, 1920, in Brillion, Wis., the son of Ferdinand and Lamberdina (Holtz) Richter. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Carl E. Grabman American Legion Post #329 of Briggsville, and a member of the VFW Post of Wisconsin Dells. He has worked for Gisholt Foundry in Madison for over 20 years, and was a charter member of the Briggsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was married to the former Lilliam Diemel.
Survivors include his wife, Lilliam Richter of Briggsville; three children, Barbara (Ron) Scott of Trimont, Minn., Ginger (Wally) Antczak of Chicago and Larry (Connie) Richter of White Creek, Wis.; one brother, Carl (Helen) Richter of Brillion, Wis., five sisters, Cilia Felzinger of Sheboygan, Thelma (William) Petty of Milwaukee, Vivian Kirby of Brillion, Wis., Nonie (Harry) Strong of Breed, Wis., and Jean Brooks of Milwaukee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials by made in Mr. Richter's name.
