Age 71, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 1986, at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay, following a short illness. He was born March 5, 1914, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, the son of the late William and Ruby (Harteau) Kirby. He married Vivian Richter on February 18, 1936, in Suring, Wisconsin. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1936, stationed in Mountain, Wisconsin. Mr. Kirby was employed by the Brillion Iron Works from 1937 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ, Brillion, and served on the church council. He was a life time member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and a member of Calumet Masonic Lodge No. 172, a past master of Brillion Lodge No. 302, a member of the Consistory Chapter Scottish Rite Bodies of Green Bay, a past president of the Calumet Shrine Club, and a member of the Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; a daughter and a son-in-law, Bonnie and Noel Zander, Brillion; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Alicia Kirby, Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Eiko Kirby, Brillion; four grandchildren, Teresa Mass, Appleton, Christopher Kirby, La Crosse, Robinson Kirby, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Steven Zander, Brillion; two great-grandchildren; a sister; and five brothers. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 1986, at Peace United Church of Christ, Brillion with the Rev. Joseph Mills III officiating. Burial will be in Brillion Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and then at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
