Mark L. Doucette, 41, died Wednesday. Sept. 2, 1998, at his home in Pompano Beach, Fla., after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 17, 1956, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Gene and Vonnie Doucette. He grew up in Chippewa Falls and graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School in 1975. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1975-79. He attended Creighton University and Clarkson College of Nursing in Omaha, Neb. and graduated with high honors as a Registered Nurse with special Intensive Care Training.
He was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha until 1988 and at the Northridge Medical Center in Ft. Lauderdale as an open heart recovery specialist until April 1998. His love for the medical profession and devotion to the care of his patients is reflected in his being honored as "Employee of the Year".
Mark felt a great love for his parents, brothers, sisters and his children and will be sadly missed by all. He was an avid skydiver and had a great love of sports, the outdoors and water recreational activities.
He is survived by his parents of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Keith of Davenport, Iowa, and Dan of Deforest; three sisters, Michele (Kim) Kaiser of Marshfield, Patrice (Ryan) Nelson of Minnetonka, Minn., and Denise (Todd) Rauchman of St. Louis Park, Minn.; three sons, Michael and Scott, both of Omaha, Neb., and Christopher of Pompano Beach; two daughters, Melanie of Omaha, and Nicole of Pompano Beach; one grandson, Andrew of Omaha; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Ruby Doucette and Louis and Gertrude Gettler.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at Calvary Chapel. Ft. Lauderdale.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at Holy Ghost Parish, Chippewa Falls. Interment will follow at Praire View Cemetery.
Infinity Cremations, Ft. Lauderdale is handling arrangements.
