CORNELL
Gertrude Elizabeth Rucks, 90, of Cornell, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at the Cornell Area Care Center in Cornell.
She was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Holcombe, the daughter of Karl and Hilda (Flieschauer) Piehler.
Gertrude married Leo Trebon on May 28, 1930, in Chippewa Falls. After his death she married Robert Rucks on Sept. 25, 1935, in Cornell.
As a young lady, Gertrude worked as a housekeeper for various doctors in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. She loved to raise flowers and worked in her vegetable garden.
Gertrude was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Cornell.
Survivors include her children, Doris A. Haroldson of Cornell, Elton (Ruth) Rucks of Cornell, Leona Olkowski of Rhinelander; one brother, Alfred Piehler of Ladysmith; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Donald Wilcox; and one brother, Kurt Piehler.
Funeral services will be held at p.m. Wednesday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Cornell, with the Rev. Melvin Schwark officiating. Burial will be in the Cornell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Borton Funeral Home, Cornell, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
