PIONEER BLACKSMITH'S FUNERAL RITES HELD
Bonesteel, S. D., Feb. 12
Funera1 services were held in the city auditorium this week for Fred Schemmer, who was born in Racine, Wis., April 21, 1858. moved to Armour. S. D.. in 1880 and was the first blacksmith there. In 1886 he was married to Louisa Fenenga and six children were born to them. In 1891 he moved with his family to Bonesteel and followed the blacksmith trade until 1924, when he retired. He is survived by his widow, six children, 16 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
