RIVER FALLS
William A. Schoettle, 68, of River Falls died on Sunday, March 24, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls.
William was born the son of Anthony and Bertha (Meyer) Schoettle on December 11, 1933, in Eau Claire. He graduated from Regis Catholic High School in 1951. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service in the military, he attended UW-Eau Claire for two years, studying engineering. On June 13, 1959, he married Ione Olson in Eau Claire. The couple moved to Milwaukee and then to St. Paul in 1962. They resided there until William moved to River Falls in 1990. William worked at Sewel Gear, Washington Scientific, and Hypro Pumps, where he retired. He loved to fish and spent his summers on Yellow Lake in Webster, Wis. He also loved to hunt, garden, and fix "tinker with" engines.
William is survived by children, Mary Schoettle of Hopkins, Minn., Vickie Schoettle-Wittig and husband, Pat of Durand, Wis., Bill Schoettle and wife Linda of River Falls, Wis.; grandchildren, Melissa Woodstrom, Michael Woodstrom, Crystal Brady and husband, Christopher, Lee Schoettle and Heidi Schoettle; brothers and sisters, Bob Schoettle and wife, Marcy of Eau Claire, Wis., Doris Adams of Eau Claire, Wis., Jim Schoettle of Illinois, Jean Loesch and husband, Dick of Maplewood, Minn., and Ken Schoettle of River Falls, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by wife, Ione; parents; and brother, Wally.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in River Falls. The visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls and also one hour prior to the service at the church. The interment will be in the Guardian Angels Cemetery in Oakdale, Minn., following lunch at church.
