Dorwin "Cy" Badger passed away in Mesa, Ariz., on January 31, 2001.
Dorwin was born on March 13, 1915, to Frank and Martha Badger, and he lived most of his life in Eau Claire, Wis.
During WWII, Dorwin spent three years in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Italy. After the war, he returned to Eau Claire and spent the next forty-two years at Uniroyal Tire Company.
When Dorwin retired in 1976, he and his wife, Rita, traveled extensively and eventually spent their summers at their son's resort in Pequot Lakes, Minn., and their winters in Mesa, Ariz.
Dorwin is survived by his sons, David (Mary) Badger of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Thomas (Pamela) Badger of Ahwatukee, Ariz.; and his daughter, Darlene (Calvin) Atkinson of Scottsdale, Ariz. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Young of Eau Claire; his brother, Jack (Nancy) of Chetek; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Rita; his parents; one brother; one sister; and two grandsons.
Visitation was today at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Mortuary, with services at Central Christian Church in Mesa. Dorwin's children then hosted a luncheon at The Grand Court Retirement Resort in Mesa where Dorwin lived.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard recognized Dorwin for his WWII service during which time he was in the front lines in North Africa, Tunisia, Sicily and Italy.
