2 PIONEER FARMERS DIE AT SAME TIME
Heart Failure and Paralytic Stroke Cause Death
Alphonse B. Richter, 72, a lifelong farmer of western Racine county, succumbed at 12:30 a. m. Monday at his home on highway 43, three miles east of Burlington.
Like 75 year old Herman Robers, who died the same morning at Lyons, Richter was born on the farm, on which he lived his entire life. Richter had been the victim of two paralytic strokes, one on April 14 and the other on May 13 of this year. These strokes were the direct cause of his death, Dr. W. A. Prouty said.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Anthony Dauben, town of Wheatland; Mrs. Harry Lois, town of Wheatland and Mrs. Edward Schlitz, at home; by four sons, Bernard, New Munster; Lawrence, Sylvester and Edward, at home.
He also leaves a sister, Mrs. William Lucke, town of Wheatland; and two brothers, Theodore Richter, Burlington, and William R. Richter, Rock Valley, Iowa. Five grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a. m. today from St. Alphonse Catholic church at New Munster, the Rev. J. H. Wurms officiating.
