Norman Louis Orth Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, uncle and dear friend, passed into eternal life on September 28, 2011. Norm was born in a rural Jesup, Iowa farmhouse, the second of four sons, to Rudolph and Hilda Orth on October 13, 1920. He attended Wartburg College and graduated with a degree in business from the University of Iowa.
He married Elizateth Irene Schmidt in 1942 and graduated from the Coast Guard Academy, serving in the Pacific in the Okimawa invasion. Upon discharge he attended and graduated from Wartburg Seminary, taking Betty and son, David to Coquille, Oregon for his first mission church, Faith Lutheran. Children Susan and Robert were born there, In 1959, Betty died of cancer. Norm then married Mazie Johnson in 1960 and they recently celebrated 50 years together.
Norm's amazing ministry spanned more than 40 years and included churches in Coquille, Seattle (Prince of Peace), Chicago, Toledo, Richmond Beach, and Sammamish Hills. His ministry touched many lives and included hundreds of friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Arnold, Lawrence and Richard.
Norm leaves behind his wife Maizie, sons, David (Gayle), Rob, and daughter Susan Borys; grandchildren, Ashley Bucy, Gemma Borys, Teresa Borys, Honor Ward (Solomone); great-grandchildren, Sky and Zephyr and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial at St Marks' Lutheran Church in Tacoma, October 9th at 3p.m.
