Maxine Mae Mixdorf, 67, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, at her home of Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy.
She was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Waterloo, daughter of John and Bertha Matthias Schumacher. She was a graduate of East Waterloo High School. She married Daniel Mixdorf June 6, 1954, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Waterloo.
Mrs. Mixdorf retired from Waterloo Public Schools Food Service following 18 years of service. She was very active in scouting, having been a Brownie leader, Girl leader, Cub Scout leader, Boy Scout district committee and recipient of the District Award of Merit. She was a very active member of Concordia Lutheran Church, having served as church secretary and L.W.M.L. secretary. She also assisted in organizing the Concordia Friday Night Soup Supper.
Survived by: her husband, Daniel; two daughters, Sue (Stacey) Harris of Virginia Beach, Va., and Deb (Frank) Failla of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Randy (Tammy) Mixdorf of Higley, Ariz., and David (Susan) Mixdorf of Lenexa, Kan.; three granddaughters, Trisha Berglund, Sabre Harris and Leah Mixdorf; three sons, Capt. Christopher Menuey, J.J. Mixdorf and Shane Harris; a great-granddaughter, Elli Berglund; and a great-grandson, Ethan Berglund.
Preceded in death by: her parents.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Concordia Lutheran Church, with burial in St. John's (Bennington) Lutheran Cemetery rural Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm. today at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
