Lyle C. Satterlee, 59, a former resident Of Independence, died of a heart attack Tuesday while working as a machinst at Torrence, Calif., where he had lived for the past six years.
The son of Charles and Augusta Wagoner Satterlee, he was born Jan. 25, 1896, at Independence. He married Florence Hall in 1913 at Fort Dodge. He served as an army air force mechanic in World War I.
Mr. Satterlee was employed as machinist by the Iowa Public service Co. while he was a resident of Waterloo. He moved to Rainer, Minn., 11 years ago and after five years went to California. He was a member of the Methodist church and Masonic lodge at Torrence.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Robert and Kenneth of Waterloo; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Kemp of North Cedar; 14 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Neva Wellendorf of Ida Grove.
He was a great nephew of Dr. A. L. Tribon of Independence and an uncle of Mrs. Evan Hall of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Memories in Waterloo and burial will be in Wilson cemetery at Independence.
