Services for Norman V. Kemp, 62, of 107 W. Lake St. will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo With burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, where graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 of the American Legion and Post 1623 of the Veterans of Foreign.
Mr. Kemp died of a heart attack Wednesday night at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1923 in Waterloo, son of Pete and Emma Schaefer Kemp. He married Mary Satterlee May 7, 1940, in Waterloo.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Africa, the Middle East and Europe during World War II. He received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered at Forbach, France. He also served in the Korean War.
He worked for 31 years at John Deere, retring in 1977. He also was a route driver for 22 years for the Waterloo Courier, retiring in 1978.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Pete, Joe and Tim, all of Cedar Falls; six daughters, Mrs. Barb Wagner, Mrs. Jody Blanchard and Mrs. Mary A. Nelson, all of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Anita Corwin of Waterloo, Mrs. Carol Cox of Dike and Mrs. Susan Sabin of Karlsruhe, West Germany; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenny of Waterloo and Cletus of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Marcella Miller of Waterloo and Mrs. Roberta Sires of Dike.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at Oppold Funeral Home, where a Scripture service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday.
