Oden Ross Griffith, 75, 549 N. Water, died Sunday of a lingering illness in a local hospital.
Born December 12, 1900, at Independance, Iowa, he was the son of Joseph and Rosa Waggoner Griffith.
Mr. Griffith attended schools in Independance, Iowa, and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in engineering. He worked in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at General Electric Company for six years. While there he met and married Martha Ann Melching, December 21, 1929.
They moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1934 until he retired in 1963. He was in charge of operation of locks and dams of the Mississippi River in Iowa and Missouri for 30 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Griffith moved to Idaho Falls two years ago.
Mr. Griffith belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Idaho Falls. He belonged to Philbrook Lodge No. 659, York Rite Commandry, Scottish Rite bodies, and he was a 32nd degree Mason as well as being a member of Mystic Order of Shrine.
Survivors include his widow, Martha Griffith; one daughter, Mrs. Warren T. (Jean) Sutton of Idaho Falls; and four grandsons, Mark, Stephen Matthew and Thomas Sutton. He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood Funeral Home, The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Wednesday. Officiating at the services will be Dr. William Evans of the First Presbyterian Church. Masonic members will meet at the Masonic Lodge at 1:30 p.m. prior to services before proceeding to the funeral home.
Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home.
