Jean Ann Sutton, 66, of Idaho Falls, died April 27, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Rock Island, Ill., to Oden Ross and Martha Ann Melching Griffith. She grew up and attended schools in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1952. She attended Northwestern University, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.
On June 11, 1955, she married Warren Thomas Sutton in Davenport. In Evanston, Ill., she worked for Northwestern University Health Services; in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Straub Clinic; and at the LDS Hospital and the Sacred Heart Hospital in Idaho Falls.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Relief Society president and in various other positions. She served the Red Cross, including the time during the Teton Flood; and helped with regular blood drives. She was a member of the Idaho Falls Medical Auxiliary, where she had served as president. She enjoyed interior decorating, ceramics, painting, and needlepoint work. She was a friendly, hard working person who was loved by everyone who knew her, but especially by her husband and four sons.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Warren T. Sutton of Idaho Falls; four sons, Stephen Thomas Sutton of Arlington Heights, Ill., Matthew Ross Sutton of Meridian, Idaho, Dr. Thomas Edward Sutton of Chandler, Ariz., and Dr. Mark Allen Sutton of Pearland, Texas; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ross Griffith; and a granddaughter, Alexandra.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday at the Taylor Mountain LDS Stake Center at 260 Castlerock Lane, with Bishop Jerry Gwynn officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will in Fielding Memorial Park.
