Dr. Warren Thomas Sutton, 75, died early Wednesday morning, June 15, 2005, after a prolonged illness of many years.
He was a well-known and respected surgeon of 30 years to the south-eastern Idaho community.
He was born in Caldwell, Idaho, Feb. 9, 1930. Soon after his birth, he was brought to Idaho Falls by his parents, Thomas L. and Jennie Seedall Sutton. He grew up with his two sisters, Patricia and Margaret Ruth.
While still in high school, he developed a desire for medicine as a career. He was a graduate of Idaho Falls High School and the University of Idaho. He was accepted and graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago.
There, he met and subsequently married his wife, Jean Ann Griffith, in 1955. Upon completion of his medical internship, he entered the U.S. Navy as an officer. After completing his residency in Chicago in 1963, he and his wife returned to Idaho Falls to start his surgical practice. He was active in the medical community and served a term as medical staff president of the Idaho Falls Consolidated
Hospitals. He was a lifelong member of the American Medical Association, the Idaho Medical Association, and the Idaho Falls Medical
Society.
He retired from medical practice in 1992.
Dr. Sutton was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple to his wife and children in 1964.
He is survived by three sons, Stephen (Kathy) Sutton, Dr. Thomas (Staci) Sutton, and Dr. Mark (Tiffani) Sutton; and five grandchildren, Broderick, Gabrielle, Eric, McKenna and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his niece, Alexandra; his son, Matthew; and his wife, Jean.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 18, at the Sunnyside Village Ward chapel, 260 Castlerock Lane, with Bishop Kevin Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour before services at the church. Interment will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary of Idaho Falls. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
