Wilma Claire Wagner Mumm went to heaven with her Lord on February 11, 2010 at the age of 89 years old.
She will be remembered for her gifts of compassion, hospitality and generosity. Family relationships and nurturing one another were high priorities for Wilma.
Born in Fairbank, Iowa on July 5, 1920, to William and Edith Wagner, Wilma had 3 half siblings, all now deceased. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and received her post graduate training at WSU. Wilma taught in Iowa for several years before driving west with girlfriends after the second World War. She taught in Oakdale and Colville, Washington where she met the love of her life, Walter H. Mumm. They were married on September 4, 1949 and shared 61 wonderful years together.
Wilma was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and enjoyed two book clubs. She was a member of Gamma Delta and Theta Theta Epsilon in college, Washington State retired Teachers Association and on the Board of the Greater Chehalis Food Bank. Until recent years, Wilma enjoyed playing the piano, tailoring, scrap and photo book making, travel and letter writing. She was a gifted teacher. After her retirement from teaching in the schools she taught piano lessons for many years in Chehalis.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 3pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Chehalis. Memorials maybe made to the Greater Chehalis Food Bank.
