Robert E. Reid, 74, of 643 Alpine Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 1, at Allen Memorial Hospital of heart failure.

He was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Black Hawk County, son of William and E. Mae Wagner Reid. He married Alyce Condon on July 5, 1947, in Waterloo.

Mr. Reid was employed with IBM for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the Army Corps of Engineering during World War II, serving in the European Theater.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, William of Waterloo and Jeffrey of Iowa City; two daughters, Lynn Findley of Bellingham, Wash., and Ellen Cutting of Decorah; five grandchildren; and a brother, Clair of Westgate.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Maurice.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at O'Keefe & Towne-Grarup & Wychoff Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorial fund: has been established.
