WESTGATE
Clair Wagner Reid, 89, of Westgate, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner.
He was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Mount Vernon Township, Waterloo, son of William and Elizabeth Wagner Reid. On Sept. 29, 1948, he married Garnet Mae Nauholz at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Westgate. She died Oct 30, 2013.
Mr. Reid graduated from Orange Township High School, Waterloo, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Survived by: three daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Glumac of Davenport, Fla., Patricia (Robert) McSweeny of Maynard and Denise (Stuart) Sliter of Mount Horeb, Wis.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alyce Reid of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: a daughter, Connie; and two brothers, Robert and Maurice.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Westgate, with inurnment in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Messerer-Fox American Legion Post 245 of Westgate. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
