Marion Henry Renz, 57, of 2315 Ridgewood Drive, Cedar Falls, who was engaged in the office supplies business in Waterloo for 28 years, died at 3 p. m. Thursday at Allen Memorial hospital of cancer.
He was born on May 31, 1905, at Fairbank, Ia., the son of Herman A. and Emma T. Renz. He was graduated from East Waterloo High school in 1923. Mr. Renz was graduated from the State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls in 1926. He taught school at Vinton and was superintendent of schools at Chelsea and Green Mountain.
IN 1934 HE returned to Waterloo and began selling school and Office supplies under the name of Lincoln Office Supplies. From a two-room suite on the 5th floor of the Lafayette building, the business moved to 613 Water St. After outgrowing quarters there it was moved to 109 E. 5th St., present site of the East Side parking ramp. The business is presently located at 320 E. 4th St., under the ownership of Robert Hileman and Duane Butz. Mr. Renz sold the business to the present owners on June 1 of this year.
He was a member of First Evangelical United Brethren church, Cedar Falls; also a member of the Waterloo Elks Club No. 290 and a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters' Club, Sunnyside Country Club and of the YMCA.
He married Miriam E. Yaggy in Cedar Falls on Nov. 27, 1935.
SURVIVING are his widow; one son, Malcolm, and one daughter, Maureen, all at home, 2315 Ridgeway, Cedar Falls, and his mother, Mrs. Herman A. Renz, of 2703 Garden Ave., Cedar Falls. His father died two years ago.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday at the First Evangelical United Brethren church, 9th and Clay St. in Cedar Falls. The body is at the Dahl funeral home, Cedar Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home until 9 a. m. Saturday. The family requests no flowers and said those who wish may contribute either to the Cancer Society or to the Memorial Fund of First Evangelical United Brethren church.
