Shirley Ann Leary, 75, of Freeport died on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at her home. Born July 1, 1935, in Freeport, she was the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Glynn) Ferguson.
She graduated from Freeport High School in 1953. On March 10, 1956, she married Wallace Leary and he died in 1992.
Shirley worked in Freeport at the Telephone Company, Micro Switch, Service Soft-Culligans, Freeport Medical Clinic, and Economy Insurance.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving is her sister, Eloise Roth of Freeport; her daughter, LeAnne Offill of Eagan, Minn.; her son, the Rev. David (Kathy) Leary of Danville; four granddaughters, Kayla (David) Celis, Samantha Offill, Sarah (John) Dizer, and Becca (Ryan) Caulkins; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Juan Celis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her brother, Robert Ferguson.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with her son, the Rev. David Leary, officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Leonard J. Ferguson Cancer Center.
