Cyril W. Ketterhagen, 95, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Burlington Memorial Hospital. He was born July 19, 1916, in Burlington, to the late Ben and Anna (nee: Busch) Ketterhagen. Cyril was a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of St. Mary's High School. Cyril was united in marriage to Mary Elderbrook. She preceded him in death in 1974. He then married Zita Miles, who preceded him in death in 2006. Cyril was a Farmer and a retired Town of Burlington Firefighter. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Cyril had served in the Town of Burlington government for approximately 20 years and had retained an active interest in the community. He was an avid card player and had played in various groups around town. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling and had loved to spend time with his family and friends. Cyril is survived by his children, Joan Muehleck of Oconomowoc, Joe (Gail) Ketterhagen of Burlington, Gene (Darla) Ketterhagen of De Pere, Dan (Lesley) Miles of Rochester, and Diane (Brian) Mahoney of Sharon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and by siblings, Roman Ketterhagen and Alice Daniels. Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; a son, John Ketterhagen; and by six brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. James Volkert officiating. Burial will take place on Friday, August 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 until 6:15 p.m. Memorials to St. Mary's Catholic Church have been suggested. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and his card-playing friends.
