Elmer A. Richter, 99, a resident of Mt. Carmel Care Center, Burlington, died there Wednesday (April 5, 1995).
Born July 29, 1895 in Burlington, he was the son of Theodore and Elizabeth (Vos) Richter.
He spent most of his life in the Wheatland area, attending Wheatland School and St. Alphonsus Grade School. After his retirement in 1954, he moved to Burlington.
On June 8, 1920, he married Rose Hunsbusher at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, New Munster.
He farmed in the Wheatland area until 1954.
Formerly a member of St. Alphonsus Church, he became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Burlington, as well as the Holy Name Society. One of the first members of the Burlington Consumers Co-op board of directors in 1937, he also was a member of the Pure Milk Association, Silver Lake chapter.
Survivors include a sister, Celeste Fonk of Kenosha, and a brother-in-law, Reuben Hunsbusher, Racine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, on Aug. 25, 1986; his brothers Frank and William; sisters Laura Daniels, Florence Robers, Leona Epping, Alice Robers and Irene Kelly.
