Carol Ann Robers, 75, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. She was born May 5, 1934, in Burlington, to the late Kenneth 'Bud' and Loraine (nee: Reuschlein) Hawkins. She was a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of St. Mary's High School. On July 28, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington, Carol was united in marriage to Melvin 'Cal' Robers. Melvin preceded her in death on December 22, 1995. Following school, Carol worked for several years as a Stenographer at Southern Colony. Carol was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a devoted mother, and a homemaker. Survivors include her children, Douglas Robers, Jill (Mick) Wieners, Daniel (Roberta) Robers, Thomas (Carol) Robers, Lisa Stevens, and Denise (Tom) Kerkhoff; and by grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Meyer, Katelyn, Jared, and Lauren Wieners, Bryce and Andrew McCourt, Chase and Danielle Robers, Ben, Kelsey, and Abbey Robers, Matthew and Kennedy Stevens, and Jenna, Kole, and Tyler Kerkhoff. Carol is further survived by sisters, Lynn (Harold) Koenen, Joan (Cloyd) Porter, and Jeanne (Al) Miller; brother-in-law, Charles Straus; and sister-in-law, Jane Robers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; nephew, Patrick Nelson; in-laws, Alice and Jacob Robers; sisters-in-law, Virginia Straus and Annette Schiller; and by brothers-in- law, Wallace Robers and Richard Schiller. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Thielen officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday from 3 until 6:30 p.m.
