Our beautiful mother was born in Rock Valley, Iowa, on March 25, 1918. She died February 20, 2003, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife and mother.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard, in February 1977; and her parents Leanora and William Balzer; sister Lorraine Dunn; and brothers-in-law Albert Dunn and Frank Bruce.
She is survived by her loving children and families, Bill and wife Linda, Ellen and husband Derald, Tom and wife Holly, Ron and wife Wendy and Joe and wife Suzanne; sister Evelyn Bruce and brother Robert Balzer of San Diego; grandchildren Michael, Mark, Ann Marie, Kimberly, Matthew and Nathan Palmer. Nieces Jo Ann and Mary Ann Bruce of San Diego, Ann Dunn-Foley and family of Michigan; nephews Jack Bruce of Los Angeles and Paul Bruce of San Diego, twins Bob and Bill Dunn, and Michael Dunn and their families. Great-grandchildren are Jacob, Leah and Benjamin.
She worked from 1966 to 1984 at Palomar Hospital as a cook in the dietary department. She was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. She was very strong in her faith and lived her life accordingly.
Services will held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m.
Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is handling arrangements. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with her beloved husband, Howard.
She was beloved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
