Alyce F. Kotz, 61, of Rockford passed away at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in SwedishAmerican Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Born Feb. 24, 1947, in Presho, S.D., to John and Marie (Schoenfelder) Houchin. Married Paul C. Kotz on Nov. 22, 1965, in Kennebec, S.D. Alyce enjoyed sewing, crafts and spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Survived by children, Melissa (Robert) Chapman, Paula (Aric) Clevenger, both of Rockford, Kathryn Kotz of Roscoe and Michael Kotz of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Erin Jardine of Rockford, Gillyanne Redisi of Roscoe, Zane Clevenger of Rockford; great-great-granddaughter, Marie Martin of Rockford; brother, Willis (Joyce) Houchin; and sister, Judy (David) Mertens, all of Kennebec, S.D.; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Predeceased by husband of 42 years, Paul C. Kotz. The family wishes to thank Dr. Harvey Einhorn and his staff at SwedishAmerican Hospital and to Steve and Barb Kotz; Larry and Carol Buckwalter and Othelda (Opie) Ferguson for their many hours of friendship and care.

Service at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with visitation from 5:30 p.m. to the time of service.
