Joanne C. Kaskie, 84, passed away April 7, 2015 at the Centennial Hospice Cottage.
Joanne C. Kelley, daughter of Steve and Pearl (Miller) Kelley was born June 12, 1930 in Salem, SD. She grew up in Salem, SD and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1948. She then attended Presentation College followed by a move to Sioux Falls and employment at Northern States Power.
Joanne was united in marriage with Joseph Charles Kaskie on May 23, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Salem, SD. She was a homemaker and mother of four children, Mary Jo, Steve, Mike and Richard.
The couple farmed in Montrose, SD and then moved to Mitchell, SD for a brief time before moving to Sioux Falls in 1953.
Joanne enjoyed ceramics at "Mable's Mud Hut" for many years and valued the wonderful hours spent there with friends. She was a voracious reader and recently sped through 90 Reader's Digests in less than a year. The trip to Ireland with her husband, Joe, was a highlight of her life and she loved to tell everyone how she kissed the Blarney Stone! More than anything, however, Joanne loved spending time with family and friends; enjoying holidays, summer picnics, visits with friends and dances with Joe.
Survivors include her children, Mary Jo (Bob) Kuemper, Steve Kaskie, Mike (Deb) Kaskie, Richard (Patricia) Kaskie; sister, Juanita Kirby; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, as well as her siblings, Phyllis, LeRoy, Jean and Doris.
