Gladys Irene Allen passed away on July 25, 2008, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1927 to Arthur and Lyda Ellston in Herrick, S.D. She graduated from high school in Dallas, S.D. and later from Eastern Montana College.
Gladys' first marriage was to Jack Womeldorf Sr. to which they had three children. During her younger years, Gladys worked as a teacher and a homemaker. After the death of Jack she worked for the Bureau of Indian Health Services in Billings.
Gladys' second marriage was to James Allen. They shared a ranch near Roundup where she enjoyed horses, visiting relatives, and spending time with their grandchildren. In retirement, James and Gladys enjoyed traveling the country. She had a great and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, husbands and siblings Art and Pat.
She is survived by her three sons, Jack W. Womeldorf Jr., John M. Womeldorf, and Jay H. Womeldorf, her siblings Bethene and Eddie Schmitt, Doris Fryda, Vern Ellston, Chuck Ellston, and Dean and Carol Ellston; her grandchildren, Jessica and Shane Spears, Michael Womeldorf, Jamie and Mike Witherup, Lindsey Womeldorf and Jeff and Antonija Womeldorf; and eight great- grandchildren.
Viewing will be held for Gladys from 9 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, at the Gallery. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday at the Gallery with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
