Charles P. Walker; 89 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Friday January 20, 2012 at Kenosha Medical Center Campus, Kenosha, WI. He was born December 6, 1922 Oak Park, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Theresa (Glennon) Walker, moving to Wisconsin in 1946. Charles proudly served in the US Army 36th. Infantry Division, during WWII in the North African and European Theaters, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation. He was a member of the VFW Post #8375, Silver Lake, WI, past member of the Western Kenosha Co. Historical Society, charter member of the Silver Lake Rescue Squad, past member of the Silver Lake Fire Department, and was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. From 1947 until 1979 Charles had worked as a tool maker at Burlington Brass Works, from 1965 until 1979 he served as the Village Clerk for Silver Lake, and before his retirement in 1991 had worked 11 years at Drake’s Supervalu in Paddock Lake, WI. On December 1, 1945 he married Dolores M. Busch at St. Peter Church, Spring Grove, IL.
Survivors include: his wife of 66 years Dolores; three daughters: Jean (Gene) Knutson of Elkhorn, WI, Terry (Tom) Walker-Wedell of Antioch, IL, and Mary (John) Rader of Wildwood, IL; four grandchildren: Karen (Eric) Neusen, Dale Knutson, Kyle Rader, and Nora Rader; three great-grandchildren: Luke, Emma, and Leah; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Edward, and Joseph, and a sister Bernadine Sumner.
Funeral services with military honors will be held 11 AM Thursday January 26, 2012 at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83) Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 10 AM.
