Theodore “Ted” G. Peterson, 81, of Nora, Ill., and formerly of Cadott, left us on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, surrounded by family.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1932 in Cadott, the son of Willard Sr. and Alvina Peterson (Ketterhagen).
Ted was a cement finisher, a union carpenter, and owned a roofing business with his sons, Peterson’s Roofing. After retirement, he bought property in Cadott, where he lived for many years and worked very hard to make it his living palace.
He loved woodworking and made many things over the years for his family that they will cherish. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, pizza, Friday night fish fries, and giving people the raspberries.
In 2012, he sold his pride and joy to move closer to his children and grandchildren. His family feels very lucky to have had him closer to them the last year and a half.
Ted is survived by: his children, Loni (Dennis) Cooper of Nora, Ill., Shelli Meierdirk of Antioch, Ill., Scott Peterson of Trevor, and Rick (Marie) Peterson of Calumet, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Roger (Bertha) Peterson of Genoa City, Jim (Donna) Peterson of Cadott, LaVern (Sherry) Peterson of Merillan and Leonard Peterson of Twin Lakes; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Peterson; two brothers-in-law, Jack Greene and Lavern Koch; many nieces and nephews; and former wife Marion (Paul) White.
He was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Tammy; one son, Job; his parents; five brothers; four sisters; and one great-grandson, Kasey Brown.
Ted was looking forward to his fourth great-grandchild due in April and his granddaughter’s wedding in May. His stories, jokes and positive outlook will be greatly missed.
Cremation rites were accorded and burial will be at a later date with immediate family.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 at Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home, 620 Legion Drive, Twin Lakes, from 3-6 p.m., with a service beginning at 6 p.m.
