On the 22d at 9 o'clock p. m. Grandma Paulina Burke died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Koester, where she had her home for the last twenty years. She came to America forty-six years ago, coming from Poland. Her husband died twenty-five years ago.
She was the mother of four children, Joseph Burke, of your city, Mrs. Henry Trebon, of Buchanan county, near Fairbank, and Mrs. Henry Koester, of Barclay. Her second son, Thomas, died in a hospital during the rebellion. They first lived in Wisconsin and afterward came to Iowa. Her age was 85 years.
The funeral took place on the 24th, Rev. Father Horsfield officiating. Grandma was a good and kind lady, and a devout Catholic. May she rest in peace. The pall bearers were Gregor Sader, Joe Meier, J. Risse, A. Ortner, N. Wellner and J. Fuchs. Barney Striegel and family and Jos. Burk and wife attended the funeral.
