William Kaskie was a native of Germany and was born February ninth 1860 and departed this life at his home near Rock Valley January fifth 1908 of pleuro-pneumonia which was secondary to the injury he sustained two weeks ago-aged forty-seven years and eleven months and twentysix days. When a mere child he emigrated to America with his parents and located near Goshen Indiana where they resided for a period of two years after which his parents moved to Buchanan county Iowa where he grew to manhood. Early in life he formed the acquaintance of Miss Matilda Trebon. This acquaintance ripened into mutual esteem and afterward into affection culminating in their marriage March twentysixth 1883. Of this union were born four sons and two daughters all of whom survive him. He removed from Storm Lake with his family where he had lived for eight years to Sioux county where he has continuously resided till his death. The subject of this sketch was human and had faults as we but had a warm and affectionate heart and was a good neighbor. He was a devout member of the Catholic church. May we drop a silent tear in fond remembrance of him and let us realize more than ever the great lessons of life. He leaves a loving and faithful wife and six bright and attractive children to mourn his untimely death. Also one brother M. Kaskie and sisters Mrs. Mary Reith of Goshen Indiana, Mrs. Josephine Kuhnert of Cameron Missouri and Mrs. A. Trebon of Rock Valley. Funeral services were conducted by Rev, Father O'Reilly at St. Mary's Catholic church January eighth. A large concourse of sympathizing friends were present to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed. Peace to his ashes and rest to his weary soul.
