William H. Vos Sr., 76, of Miller Road, Preston, passed away Friday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. Mr. Vos was born in Antioch, IL on January 11, 1932 the son of Herbert and Margaret (McCarthy) Vos. After receiving his education, he served in the US Military. He was employed as an engineer at the former Stone & Webster Co. before his retirement. He was married to Jean (Crandall) Vos at Sacred Heart Church, Groton on June 25, 1955. In addition to his wife, Mr. Vos is survived by his children, Michael G. Vos of Norwich, Tambree Chapman of Griswold, William H. Vos Jr. of Portland, OR, Ellen Vos Gordon of Groton, and Stephanie M. Hunter of Preston; his grandchildren, Shayne Michael Vos, Robert Anthony Piscitello, Brett Vos Piscitello, Saona Dove Chapman Jackson, Clark Reynolds Chapman IV, Joshua Vos, and Cassy Hunter and Vos Hunter. He was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Vos. His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Drive, Groton on Thursday at 11am.
