Charles N. 'Chuck' Riley

 

Charles N. "Chuck" Riley, 71, of Kenosha, died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2000) at his residence.

Born Feb. 23, 1928 in Pleasant Prairie, he was the son of the late George G. and Mary G. (Tures) Riley.

A lifetime resident of Kenosha, he was educated in Kenosha schools. He was a graduate of Milwaukee Institute of Technology, and attended the University of Wisconsin Extension in Kenosha where he received an Associate Degree in Structural Technology.

During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army. He entered the service on Oct. 27, 1950, and was honorably discharged on Aug. 14, 1952. He served in Korea and Japan. He received the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Camp Star and the United Nations Service Medal.

On July 3, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kenosha, he married Betty Fonk.

He worked at Giebeler Construction Co. from 1945 until 1965, the last five years as vice president. He then founded Riley Construction and worked there from June 1, 1965, until his retirement in 1994.

His involvements included the following: member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, past board member of Kenosha Builders Association, past board member of the Wisconsin Chapter Association of General Contractors, past board member of Tri-County Contractors Association, honorary member of Rotary West and a Paul Harris Fellow, United Way campaign worker, past board member of Kenosha Manufacturers and Employers Association, member of the Board of Directors of Johnson Bank of Kenosha, and a member of the 306 Club.

Surviving are his wife, of Kenosha; four sons, Mark C., Thomas P. , and David R., all of Kenosha, and James G. of Fairmont, Minn.; four daughters, Patricia A. Miller of Dousman, Wis., Eileen Levonowich of Brookfield, Susan M. Easton of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Barbara J. Riley of Kansasville; and a sister, Lucille Niebling of Kenosha.

Mass to be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery. Friends may call at Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Memorials to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Rd., Suite 146, Des Plaines.
