James Dorau, 80, of Kenosha passed away at his home on Thursday, March 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Kenosha on April 12, 1936, he was the son of the late George and Clara (Zirnheld) Dorau. A lifelong Kenosha resident, James was educated in local schools and graduated from Bradford High School.
James enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1956 until 1957.
On April 26, 1958, he married Janice M. Fonk at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was the Vice-President of Riley Construction, where he worked for 35 years He was very proud of the construction work he did in his local community.
He enjoyed wintering in South Padre Island, Tex., and spending time at his cabin in Black River Falls. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was active in tennis, hunting, card playing and cribbage.
James is survived by his three sons, Michael of Burlington, and Robert and Thomas (Theresa), both of Kenosha; two daughters, Donna (Jeffrey) Dorau Parry of Menomonee Falls and Debra (Matthew) McGrain of Pleasant Prairie; ten grandchildren, Benjamin Dorau, Daniel Parry, Timothy Parry, Steven (Christine) Dyke, Joseph (Hannah) Dorau, Danielle Dorau, Jessica (Kyle) Hansen, Nicholas Dorau, Jacob McGrain, and Abigail McGrain; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Joseph P. Dorau; and six sisters, Sister Mary Joseph, Agnes Dorau, Gertrude Grevenow, Margaret Schmitt, Ruth Kovacs and Rita Rush.
Prayers will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the prayers. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
