June E. Luke, 91, of Waukesha, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Linden Grove – Waukesha.
Born in Kenosha on May 2, 1923, she was the daughter of Ernest and Alice (nee Johnson) Tabbert. She spent her early life in Somers where she attended Burr Oak Grade School and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.
On September 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald George Luke. Following marriage they made their home in the Town of Wheatland before moving to Springstead, WI in 1975. Don preceded her in death on December 22, 2010.
In June's earlier years she worked at Kenosha Brassworks during WWII making ammunition for the troops. Following marriage she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Park Falls and in 1975 she and Don formed Springfield Realty.
She is survived by her children, Dean (Jayne) Luke of New Munster, Sharon (Larry) Dittman of Waukesha, Danny Luke of Springstead, David (Linda) Luke of Burlington and Donna (Dennis) Hirthe of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Jerry (Mary) Schuerman, Donald (Shelley) Schuerman, Nancy Iverson, Paul (Mona) Schuerman, Deanna Luke, Karen (Paul) Berenson, Bill Baumeister, Marie Baumeister, Robert (Stacy) Baumeister, Danielle Luke, Derrick Luke, Timothy (Lorena) Luke, Trisha (Jason) Fay, Nicky (Rob) Blasier, Jackie Hirthe, Christopher Hirthe and Samantha Hirthe; 22 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Helen (Albert) Schlitz of Springstead, Lenny Tabbert of Springstead and Ernest "Bunk" (Dolores) Tabbert of Somers along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law, Richard (Mary) Luke; grandson, Tim Iverson; niece, Lorena Luke and nephew, Ricky Luke.
Services for June will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster with Rev. Terry Langley presiding. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, March 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
