James Alan Zimmerman, 66, of Union Grove, died Jan. 9, 2007, at his home with his family around him, without pain and in peace. He was born June 27, 1940, in Kenosha to Norbert and
Marion (Thomey) Zimmerman. On Aug. 4, 1990, he married Betty Jean Winkleman in Union Grove.
James worked in data processing for J.I. Case, American Motors, Snap-On Tools, Weil-McLain in Indiana and Avco New Idea in Ohio until 1990. He then went into law and worked for Demark, Kolbe and Brodek SC, Racine County District Attorney, Racine County Court and Racine County Human Services until his disablement in 1995.
He knew he had lived a good life.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Zimmerman of Union Grove; children, Cindy (Dan) Ellenwood of Ohio, Thomas (Tracy) Zimmerman of Burlington, Jeffery (Jenny) Zimmerman of Burlington, step-son, Brian Krempasky of Kansasville, step-daughter, Amy (Jarrett) Liner of North Carolina; grandchildren, Brandi, Alison, Sarah, Abigail, Jake, Jocee, Alexzandra, Olivia; sister, Jean Morgan of Kenosha, mother-in-law, Evelyn Winkleman of Kansasville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, C. Jean (nee: Hanko) Zimmerman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Union Grove with his nephew, Dave Leitz officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday, Jan. 12, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home and also on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10-11 a.m. at Church.
