William L. Elbert, 84, 23 Stam Street, a Williams Bay barber about 50 years and a former village official, died at Lakeland Hospital Monday.
Elbert and his wife moved to Williams Bay 50 years ago and he started his barbering at that time. He retired four years ago. He was a World War I veteran.
Elbert vas a former village treasurer, the first president of the Williams Bay Men's Community Club and a member of Walworth Masonic Lodge and Williams Bay Lions Club.
He was born June 20, 1892, in Elgin, Ill., the son of William and Mary Scherer Elbert. He married Sue Hatch June 5, 1921, in Milwaukee. She died in 1958.
Surviving are two sons, William, Wilmette, Ill. and Phillip, Fontana; a daughter, Donna Elbert, of Williams Bay and Chicago and five grandchildren.
Final rites will be held at 2 PM Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Williams Bay Congregational United Church of Christ, with Rev. Elmo Paff officiating. Burial will be in East Delavan Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at the Walworth Funeral Home.
