Charles William Hofner, 78, died Jan. 3, 2003, at the Olivia White Hospice Home in Flagstaff.
Mr. Hofner was born on March 15, 1924, in New Munster, Wis., to Ben and Dora Hofner.
He attended school in New Munster and Burlington, Wis.
Mr. Hofner and his partner Ralph Larson co-owned Larson and Hofner, a successful men's and boy's clothing store in Burlington for 30 years. He moved to Flagstaff in 1971 and worked as a Realtor for 10 years before retiring.
Mr. Hofner was an expert at cutting and refining gemstones, a favorite hobby of his. He also refinished hundreds of pieces of antique furniture.
Mr. Hofner is survived by wife of 54 years, Mary; daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and John Roberts of Camp Verde and Dianne and Greg Webb Saphiere of Leawood, Kan.; sons and daughters-in-law Chuck and Sierri Hofner of Flagstaff and David Hofner of Kansasville, Wis.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hofner was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Hofner, sister Marion Rossmiller Schilz, and son Marc Jeffery Hofner.
A memorial will held and rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Flagstaff Mortuary, 302 W. Oak Ave., Flagstaff.
